Welcome to Torsby Aikidoklubb

Torsby Aikidoklubb was founded 1979 by Lars-Göran "Lasse" Andersson, 5:th dan, who since then has been the head instructor of the dojo. He started with Aikido in the middle of the sixties and has been to Japan three times to train for Morihiro Saito Sensei, 9:th dan. 1994 he was awared 5:th dan by Morihiro Saito Sensei and in 2002 he received 5:th dan in Aikikai. Lars-Göran Andersson is one of the leading Aikido instructors in Scandinavia. In 2006 he he received 6:th dan in Aikikai.

The club trains in Iwama Aikido. Iwama is a japanese city where the founder Morihei Ueshiba (O'sensei) lived and developed the modern Aikido. One of O'senseis students was Morihiro Saito, 9:th dan, who lived and trained with O'sensei between 1946 to 1969. After O'senseis death, Saito took over the training in Iwama and called the Aikido he taught for Iwama Aikido. Saito Sensei passed away in 2002.
